My History with Film Photography
My love for film began in the darkroom, long before I fully understood what I was doing. I didn’t know much about film when I started...only that something about it felt honest. I studied photography at Appalachian State, where I first fell in love with the nostalgia, the grain, and the way it makes you see. Film taught me to look longer, shoot less, and trust the moment.
Today, it’s woven into every wedding and session I shoot... not as a trend, but as way to get more raw moments into the final gallery.

35mm film is a traditional photography format that captures images using light-sensitive film instead of a digital sensor. Each roll holds 36 frames, meaning every photo is intentional and carefully composed. Known for its timeless texture, 35mm film creates images that feel like memories.

120mm film, also known as medium format film, offers a larger frame size than 35mm, resulting in stunning detail, soft depth, and rich dynamic range. Each roll typically holds 12 to 16 frames, making every image feel more intentional and artfully composed. The result is an elevated, editorial look — perfect for portraits.

Polaroids are instant film photographs that develop right before your eyes, creating one-of-a-kind keepsakes you can hold in your hand within minutes. Each frame is unique, imperfect, raw, and full of charm, capturing moments exactly as they are. With their vintage feel, Polaroids add a playful, nostalgic touch to your wedding day or session.

How many photos come on a roll of film?
Each roll of 35mm film includes 36 frames — which means every image is carefully composed and intentionally captured. There's no overshooting, just thoughtful storytelling. 120mm film has 12-16 images on each roll.
How long does it take to get my film photos back?
Film takes about 2–3 weeks to be developed, scanned, and delivered. It’s a slower process — but like most good things, it’s absolutely worth the wait.
What makes film look so different from digital?
Film captures light organically — not through a sensor, but through a chemical reaction. That’s why the colors feel softer, the light feels more natural, and the final image has a texture that feels like memory.
